NO, just really crappy manufacturing and engineering from MICROSOFT.
I could happen any time,it was just a coincidence.

No the Red Ring of Death is an overheating issue not a software problem. It was just a coincidence.

A common cause of the “Red Ring of Death” is the failure of the Nyko Intercooler inside the console. It has also been suggested that hardware failures can be caused by the fracturing of the solder used inside the console due to excessive heat and the wrong type of solder being used during construction.

    Basically, they are poorly manufactured.

This website has an interveiw with a person who worked for Microsoft. It is very interesting.

what in the world are you saying how the heck can downloading a new map for halo 3 get the 3 rings…!!? the #1 possible way you get it is by you over heating your console in other words xbox go hot hot which means dont keep your 360 in a trapped area keep it in an area for it to flow if you still wanna keep it in that trapped place well then you’ll have to play your 360 4 a short amount of time i say 1 to 2 hours max with out it getting hot!

downlouding maps can not do that you just over heated it that means you played to much with out shuting it off that is what happened to mine now I need a new one if it is three rings that means it is not going to work anymore if it is two it means something is not pluged in right

nope, the only ways ive found out is if it overheats, theres a power surge, or if the wire to the..box thingy on the power cord is partially unplugged..just dont play your 360 during a freak lightning storm..
