xbox red lights
Jeremy asked:

Is it possible to prevent the red lights of death from happening to your Xbox 360. I ask because my brother and I got ours at the same time and his went down but mine hasn’t yet(knock on wood)….do cooling systems really work?

I don’t think there is a lot you can do except depend on the new three year warranty for repairs from Microsoft. Microsoft charged a 1 billion dollar loss due to 360 repairs, so if there was something that could be done, I’d imagine they’d want to tell us…

Mine went out last month and I know a guy who has had three drop out.

Some believe it’s the hard drive, others say it is all the downloadable updates. Cooling is always a suspect. I’d be careful of adding cooling fans though. Just like leaving the case open on your PC is not always better, you don’t know what the hardware designers had in mind regarding air flow.

Probably better to make sure it is out in an open area where it can get good cool air circulation. The last thing you want to do is keep it inside an entertainment center with a bunch of other hot electronic components.

Also, be sure to turn it off when you aren’t using it and don’t run it as a DVD player if you want to keep it alive for game playing.

MY XBOX 360 DID THE SAME THING HERES WHAT YOU DO:

first…let it cool down…an xbox has so much happening at the same time it overloads sometimes!!

second….itz a trick you can do…first cut it on with the game inside…next the light will appear….after that push the open cd case button and close it..as soon as it closes turn the XBOX360 off..and turn it back on as soon as it closes…and it should work…keep repeating if not successsful!!!!

Oops, you have the same problem as me!! think twice before you send it to Microsoft for repair, as they will take average 6 to 8 weeks to return you a refurbish set!!
