either place it in a place withouth overheating (such as inside the freezer) and play there. or play on the open, that thend's to solve overheating. it's awesome how good it is to drink something while defeating lou in gh3 but if that does not solve the problem, check it to see if there's something that could possibly be causing an energy leak.
it happened to me on my ps2 i had to buy a new one cuz it blown up ( it REALLY blown up. exploded into 930148 pieces) that denotes that the xbox is more intelligent and shuts itself down. lol..

Well as you know two means its overheating. First of all you have to keep it in a cool room intercooler or not. Also give it a lot of breathing room. at least 4-6 inches ll around. Mine gets a little hot after several hours(about 5). Also mine has never done that. I got mone april of this year and it has not gotton hot enough to overheat. It has gotton pretty hot but not that bad, O ya and make sure your room is well ventilated like windows open or if you have an a/c or a fan to circulate air.

yes i had this problem when i was playing gears of war it would overheat when i popped someones head or get blown up, so what i did was use the towel method. go to youtube and type xbox 360 towel fix. if this doesnt work then you will probably have to send it to microsoft for repair but if you dont have warranty then it will cost alot.

do not use the towel trick as others have suggested that will work short term if at all.

i had the same problem there is an easy way to fix it yourself so you dont have to send it in to microsoft
