How to avoid the three red lights on xbox 360?

So I have gotten them for the second time, and just sent my 360 in for repair, and i will be waiting a good five weeks before i get it back =[ The xbox crashed when i was playing halo 3, it was acting really funny for a while and then ended up with the lights. Now, i wanted to take out my brother’s 360, but his was manufactured before mine, and im thinking that his might end up with the same fate. Is there anything that i can do to avoid these lights?

Get a fan for it or reserch it on the wikipedia or another website to prevent
but I cant think how to stop it

Get a PlayStation 3. I had 2 360s and they both overheated. I serioulsy don’t want to waste hundreds of dollars and have to replace my system every other month. I got a PlayStation 3 and no problem whatsoever.

you can’t. It’s a poor quality product from Microsoft. Yes I know it’s a great system, and how can you go wrong with Gears of War and Bio-Shock. (not to mention Halo). But it’s microsoft’s fault. You can get a cooling fan but that won’t guarantee anything. As long as people keep buying it. They have no reason to fix it. And did you know they don’t send you your origonal system back? they send you someone else’s they fixed and put yours in the pile to be fixed and sent to someone else.
