I got the red circle of death on my Xbox 360 last night. Do they do a good job of repairing them?

Jason asked:

I just called tech support today, and Microsoft is going to send me the box to ship my system back to them to be repaired. Is this even worth my time? And why won’t Bill Gates do something like give everyone 5 games for free, instead of just fix a system that he should have never put on the market so early to begin with? Please let me know how long this process of repair may take and what else I could get out of the deal. Thanks.

Actually, they will not repair your system, they will just give you a completely new one. So, that’s why you need to make sure you have take out the hard drive, any memory cards, any disc, or any other thing that does not belong with the actual console itself (don’t worry about things like cords, though, they just want the actual Xbox). The paper they send you with the return box will explain everything you need to do.

    Good luck.

they’ll send u a completely new one. It fine, it works, that guy above me don’t know nothin jk. It usually takes no longer than two weeks after u mail it back. getting the box to send it in can take while, idk why.

It most likely will not be a brand new 1. The way they “fix them is kind of like a cycle. Someone who has sent theirs in before you has sent theirs in, that got fixed and you got theirs. and someone with the same problem will likely get your old one. So really they just send you someone elses that has been fixed, since it would take to long to send you your same exact console back. that is why when you send it in, you make sure you remove your hard drive.

Chances are your gonna get a refurb system back that will eventually break as well. Many people have sent their consoles in 7 or 8 times because Micro$oft only temp. fixes the problem. As for the 5 free games from old Bill count yourself winning the lottery if they even send you a 1 month free gold subscription. The only chance you might have of them giving you a new system is call and nag, every single day. Money is priority #1, not consumer satisfaction. Atleast in terms of reliability, Micro$oft has lost the console wars.

Microsoft they will give you a new 360 console. It took me less 2 weeks & I think it depends your location. I have no problems @ all with my 360. And you also have 3 yrs of warranty now. Good luck & it is not end of the world.
