Sounds like you got the ring of death. You may have to get your 360 repaired. Check out this wikipedia link for details to an alternative.

you need to take it back where you got it, when it has a red ring there is no fixing it yourself! it should be under warranty till at least this november so take it back or call microsoft and send it to them

The red ring usually means a problem that won’t allow the 360 to function properly, it can be as simple as not having all the cords plugged in or could be a serious problem, i’d have to see your 360 before telling you so i can’t help tell you what the problem is exactly but if you would post details of how you store the 360 when playing it an when not then i might be able to help solve the problem, as for sending it in to get it fixed i believe the 360 has a 1 year warrenty so you could either return it to the store and exchange it or if you wanted to ship it out to get it fixed to an electronic repair source

Usually it’s bad news, a couple of my friends have had the same problem just out of there warranty and they were not worth repairing. Microsoft will probably replace it if it is still under warranty. Heard it is the earlier models that have most of the problems. Fortunately it’s not affected mine….YET!

Three lights in the circle is the red ring of death. 4 means it is cutting off not getting good power. You may need a cooling system on it because it is getting hot. There is a place in your manual that tells what 1 red light means 2 and so on.

if its a complete circle you dont have everything plugged in right. if its three you are screwed. just buy a new one

I’ve heard that this one’s common with the 360’s.The red ring appears on the 360 when it mailfunctions, especially when overheated.
It can be fixed, though.Your 360 is neither dead nor will it blow up.Since you bought it in November the one-year warranty has not expired yet. Send it to microsoft and they will most likely fix the problem for free or, they might give you a new one.
Of course there are “unofficial” ways to solve the goddamn problem, too. E.g. if you get a few cotton towels (over 2) and wrap them around your 360 for 10-15 mins while having the power turned on, may fix your problem for some time (at LEAST some hours according to what ive heard). You may find more about these “unofficial” ways with a search around the internet. There are videos on youtube, too.
