What does it mean when the three red lights on an xbox 360 are not flashing?

xbox red lights
Bengt G asked:

Im assuming its overheating, because it first displayed the red lights after being played in my 95 degree room. I took it downstairs where its much cooler and it turned on and stayed on, but im not sure if theres permanent damage. I know three blinking red lights means hardware failure, but these were solid lights and did not flash in any order.
EDIT: I know what the red ring of death is, but it is supposed to flash. Mine is not.

That’s been nicknamed the “Red Rings of Death”. Yes it overheated, and yes there is semi-permanent damage. And by that I mean you have to send it in to by repaired.

Mine just did that a week ago, I still have to send it in.

I think its called the 3 rings of death. And don’t qoute me but something your device over heated that reads your disc. This is found in the older ones. The newer ones have a stronger (whatever) that won’t heat up as bad.
