What does the 3 red light on my Xbox 360 actually mean. I know that it is broken and wont play but what has really went wrong with it, what has made it do this.

I have the 3 red lights on my 2 year old xbox

    it’s probably overheating. what happens is a chip in there gets overheated and cracks.

    The processor has overheated and is now damaged… you wont be able to get it fixed unless you send it back to microsoft. Call xbox support 1800-4MY-XBOX and they will help you with the warranty process. THe warranty is 3 years and it should not cost you anything but a couple of weeks away from your xbox…

    there’s a chip in there that helps to keep the xbox 360 running. its a battery. when you play too much, the battery gets overheated. if you play about 6 to 8 hours, it will get the red ring of death. if it gets too overheated, the battery will burn out and you will get the red ring of death. you will most likely have to buy a new xbox 360.

    stupid 360 and its red lights. never heard of that many problems coming out of the old xbox!! i have a hard drive problem with my 360 as soon as i bought mine. my friend had a problem with his power transformer or some component inside.

    thats not true it means that the clamps that holding the heat sink on the gpu are loose and needs to be tighten. So if I were you I would buy a repair kit and fix it yourself

    Red ring!!! SOrry its broken U have to send it back in because it overheated but it lasted long :D

    Hi John,

    I hope the problems with the 3 red lights have been solved for you. If not, it sure seems to be a common problem and a lot of people want to fix it themselves instead of sending it to Microsoft.

    Here is a guide that claims that you will fix it in 1 hour
