xbox 360 3 red lights and orange power light?
October 6th, 2008 | by xboxrepair |paul asked:
I plug my xbox 360 in and the power pack light is orange straight away. Then I turn my 360 on and all the lights are green, and it starts to work and the menu comes up, then after about 10 seconds the screen goes blank and the 3 red lights flash on my xbox 360. Is this a hardware failure due to the power pack or the 3 red lights of death?

i believe it’s called the “orange ring of death” and it’s just that. your xbox is toast. but i also heard that they were fixing them for free due to an overheating problem.

I had the same problem. Xbox is covering this for 3 years I believe. Call them up- get a call tag and they will send you a prepaid box to send it out to be fixed.

Just a Hardware Failure

It could be the hard drive. I had that issue with the first unit I bought. I had to disconnect the drive and clean the contacts and then reinstall it. It worked for a while after that but the problem came back so I took it back to the store and swapped it out.
